I would like to discuss horse slaughter with everyone; let me start by asking, Do you think horse slaughter should be illegal?

Ok, let's not get cussy about this please. We can discuss this like mature adults.
I personally believe that in moderation horse slaughter is not entirely bad. I mean, I hate the thought of horses being killed for dog food, but what would happen to them if they didnt'? I mean, from what I've gathered, in Texas where horse slaughter is illegal, people leave their horses out on the side of the road with a sign that says 'Take or let starve' on it. That's more inhumane than a painless shot or whatever they do to the horses at the horse slaughter. Which I hope is humaine, but I've never heard that much because everyone's always dissing it all the time.

I totally agree with Sarinia, as sad as it is it is necessary. Think about it There are about 5 million horses in the US alone, most of those horses are unwanted and have to go somewhere there is simply not enough space for all these horses. I agree they should not be sent across the US border to be slaughtered since they have terrible methods. Yes, pass a law that makes it more humane but do not outlaw slaughter completly. The after effects of outlawing it could be disaterous (can't spell) the price of feed has already gone up and like Sarinia said before there are alot of people that just leave their horse on the side of the road because they cannot take care of it any more. In my belief it is more cruel to starve them and prolong their suffering than to take it away for good.
